These gorgeous jellyfish were a tranquil sight at the aquarium. Luckily, the rainy weather outside meant fewer visitors and less crowds there that day and Tallan got a chance to get up close and personal!
We were still learning how to take pics with the video camera, so unfortunately most of the footage we have of that trip are in video form (which I can't upload very easily), so our aquarium pics are very few. The neatest part of the aquarium is their "passages of the deep" exhibits where you can walk through a glass tunnel and see fish and sharks swim around you. We were able to get these shots in but they don't do justice to the experience. It was really cool.
After the aquarium, we drove for about 6 hours to get to Seattle where we visited the zoo first thing the next day. It is a fantastic zoo and we will definately go see it again when we are down there!
First Tallan found a nice statue of a Hippo to make friends with.
And then we got to see some real ones! We stuck around after the Zoo closed and both of the hippos actually came out of the water. It was so neat to see them walking on the ground right before our eyes!
The warm weather called for a drink from the water fountain...just a little too tall for our little man, even on his tippy toes!
Tallan loved seeing the monkey exhibit and we this close up of a monkey on the side of a cliff (although a very small cliff)...

Yup, it really was really was a lion!

It looked so fun, Elisa wanted to join in on the lion ride!
Elisa was as friendly as ever, waving to passers-by. "Hi!"
Then daddy and Tallan got front seats at the elephant viewing station! These were asian elephants, that have smaller ears than African elephants. We didn't see the African elephant in the exhibits, but again, after the zoo closed, we were able to see him eating hay in his barn. He was huge!
But since they weren't available for rides, Tallan found one that was :)
As a thank you for the ride, Tallan decided to share some of his juice with the kind elephant :) That's my sweet little man!
One of the animals that shocked us were the Malaysian Tapirs. They were such foreign looking animals to us - we had no idea they were so big! Tallan decided they looked something like panda bears with elongated pig snouts.
Daddy got caught doing some kind of funny boxing dance to entertain our sleepy babies, but I think the adults around us enjoyed it, too :)
We were in awe of this gorgeous sleeping leopard that we got to see right up against the glass of the exhibit - probably only a few feet away from us.
And although the real otters were asleep and difficult to see in their dens, Tallan fell in love with these otters.
It looked like so much fun, Elisa squirmed out of her stroller to join him. I guess Tallan's otter was getting away on him in the back there...
