August Summer Fun

Oh how I miss the beautiful, long summer days already. It was so nice to head to the park after dinner....or spend long days at the park playing in the playground and running through the spray park. It was a great summer for sure! A trip down the coast of Washington, and Oregon. A stop over in Seattle. Daddy home at reasonable hours. Goodbye to all that for the fall/winter/spring!

We don't have a big yard for the kids to play in, but Tallan is really creative with what we have. Our inflatable pool was rarely filled because the water when dumped out turned our back yard into a swamp, but Tallan came up with this incredible game - jumping off our concrete pad onto an upside down pool! It's no trampoline, but fun it was!

Elisa couldn't help wanting to get in on the, fun too!

Elisa started walking in August and independence has been so much fun for her! It's been more than a month and she's quite a pro! Except on inclines....

She is very curious and surprises me every day! Here she takes a look at her ride-on car. "I think there may be something wrong with this thing..."

"Well, here's the problem. It was full of vegetables!"

We took a trip to playland and to our amazement, Tallan is already 38 inches and able to go on all the kids' rides on his own without us! It was fantastic watching him go, but not enough rides allowed parents to come, so poor Elisa was really upset about missing out on the action! She is such an adventurer!!

But here is us on the good, old carousel. It looks like I'm the only one having fun, but they loved it! It was asking for trouble trying to get them off - especially Elisa!

Then there was a great little train ride...

And the superslide! To our surprise, Tallan didn't want to go down but Elisa was more than willing!

And the elephant ride...

Tallan fell in love with the rollercoaster! Our camera was too slow to get any good pictures so we had to shell out the $15 to get a picture from the park - it was worth it! You should see his smile!

Elisa didn't meet the height requirements for this ride, but the park was very slow that day and thankfully the ride attendant was lenient with the rules for us. Thank goodness - she was so sad not to ride many of the other rides :(

But not all the ride attendants were so willing to let her pass. Tallan rode the pirate ship solo. Ahoy, matey!

We all got to ride on the helicopter together, although, for some strange reason, Mike and my helicopters had some trouble getting up in the air. Hmmmm.

Tallan got to ride this bear car and then he and Daddy lined up for the Ferris wheel. Again Elisa didn't meet the minimum height requirement, but since Mommy is afraid of heights, she was glad to stay and eat mini Oreos with Elisa on the ground!

We also went to the reception for my girlfriend Shannon's wedding. She was the maid of honor at my wedding and she was just gorgeous at hers!

We didn't go to the ceremony - unfortunately they are far too long for little toddlers. We even had to leave early from the dinner because it was just getting too late for our little ones. They were fantastic though! Here Elisa patiently waits for dinner....

Tallan was adventurous with the food (go figure!). He enjoyed jellyfish, roast pork, shark fin soup, crab claws with shrimp pate, and so much more! There must be some chinese in his blood :) So, as a reward, Daddy took us all to Dairy Queen for dessert.

Daddy and Tallan took lots of trips to see the lobster, crab, fish, and geoduck tanks. A source of entertainment while waiting....

Tallan really took to the centrepieces. They were just made of tissue paper!

But at home, the kids have buckets of fun.

Elisa just loves the Wiggles chair. Especially now that she can get in and out of it on her own. It took lots of practice, but she's a pro now :)

And she is quite protective of it. Here she tries to body check her brother out of her chair.

August also brought us our neighbours guinea pigs. Welcome Squeak and Skunk. We'll let you guess which one is which.

AND, the end of August brought us dad to help build the shed we've been talking about since we moved in here. After a couple of days, it stands beautifully in our little yard!!

Okay, okay. Since the shed is done, we'll let grumpa out now :)

Grumpa also managed to hang up the swing again! It was a little late in the season to enjoy it much, but next year, hopefully we'll have it out early and there were still some sunny days left to love it.

And Tallan continues to find new ways to enjoy things :)
